Was it ever not going to be. And as you say it's not even started yet, I remain convinced that there's going to be some sort of diplomatic incident and there'll be pressure on countries to withdraw making the whole thing moot. But let's see I guess.

I think it would have to be a very major incident to get teams to withdraw after it has started. More than just someone (Even a family or friend of a member of a squad) being arrested (Which could still spark a major reaction). Hard to see that happening.

Them banning alcohol at the stadiums at the last minute (which itself is likely to cause major issues between Busweiser and FIFA) certainly doesn't give me much hope that we're not going to see arrests and other incidents over their morality laws, despite assurances otherwise.

Yup, They basically said whatever needed said to tick boxes to get the World Cup (money helped too) and now they have it, the infrastructure is setup and teams in place.. Pulling things left right and center.

The BBC live feed have said they have had only one text all morning from someone excited about the World Cup. The rest have been negative. Going to be a tough tournament to cover for broadcasters then. Good Morning Britain’s trailer is pretty downbeat for example.
If ratings struggle and the final looks like it will rate lowly ITV’s ratings for it could be very low.

The Fifa boss's speech this morning I think is yet another nail in the coffin for enthusiasm for this tournament.

I think tomorrow’s ratings will be very low. I can’t see there being many viewers at all for Qatar v Ecuador. I am starting to think we will see England v USA under 10 million on Friday which would be shockingly low for a competitive England tournament match in primetime.

Some broadcasters aren't locating studios and operations in Qatar (good for them). SVT is simply rebadging its sports studio in their downtown Stockholm HQ, and all operations will run remotely from there. Some reporters will be on-site, however.
