2022 FIFA World Cup

Belgium v Canada was just under 5m in the ratings. Good but not that high for a primetime match. Will be interesting to see what England v USA and then the two primetime weekend matches get. The BBC will be hoping Spain v Germany brings in 6.5m or more.

Brief apperence of the IBC logo during the Wales v Iran match. Commentators have already apologised.

Why is the BBC's red card graphic on the scorebar so small! A team can't have more than five red cards in a match without it being abandoned and you could fit about 10 on there!

Looks more like a graphical error than a red card indicator.

Not a fan of itvs scoreboard with the colours of the team as a tiny strip, bbcs is better although that new bbc logo in yellow looks terrible, the official scoreboard is not particularly elegant either and takes up too much space.

The BBC will be happy with tonight’s result as it means there is not a dead rubber on Tuesday which will increase ratings.

Also, the curse of ITV continues with one win (in 90 minutes) since 1998 in a World Cup game featuring England on ITV.

There is an error on that tweet. England v Portugal in 2006 was on the BBC. (And had England won the penalty shootout the semi would have been shared.) And even back in 2006 people were talking about the ITV curse.

The BBC and RTÉ have agreed to change the Iran's National Team short-name of IRA to IRN following a few comments. ENG v IRA didn't sound too good.
