Emmerdale 50th Anniversiary

Emmerdale Farm started off as a daytime soap, gaining promotion in the late 70s. I believe it was fully networked by somewhere around 1988 and that was before it was renamed to just Emmerdale.

Thank you.

I know it was shown on different days before being fully networked but we’re the regions at the same pace or were done at different stages?

New font on the credits over the opening scene on today's episode.

It was on yesterday's episode and end credits too. I'm guessing this is ITV Display Sans?

I somehow managed to miss it on yesterday's! I guess I picked up on it more as today's was a special episode.

From the pre-publicity, I got the impression it was a 4 hander, though those 4 characters were the main focus of the episode admittedly. And it was still an 8 handed episode set in one location, with a flashback at the start of part 2, so still unusual.

As I said in the EastEnders thread, a bit of co-incidental scheduling that special episodes of Emmerdale and EastEnders went out on the same day, I'm guessing it wasn't planned.

I felt the episode was a bit gimmicky and was quite unnecessary. Really with the exception of the odd scene and different camera angle you could have switched part 1 and 2 around and it would have been a normal episode.
