BBC Breakfast

It should be remembered that Rachel is lead presenter of 5 Live breakfast - so availability for another programme is limited. Generally Rachel seems to appear at weekends.

Nothing will be saved by Breakfast using another Salford based individual if they then need covering from someone else based in London.

Radio 5 Live Breakfast seem to have plenty of female based Salford cover available and good to see the likes of Salford based Mairead Smyth and Lisa McCormick providing cover over the next number of days.  Nicky Campbell used to present from what looked like a cupboard in London so for radio it is more cost effective if need be to present all 5 Live Breakfast from London.  I'm not sure where Rick Edwards currently presents from - the studio camera used to make these things a lot easier to find out!  Admittedly Rachel is a lead radio presenter but given many presenters in local stations are loosing their employment in the coming months, travel is something that needs reviewed rather than just for the sake of a better known face being on tv Breakfast.   I would expect travel to and from London is not that productive if being done on work time sitting on a train rather than in a newsroom or homeworking situation.

I forgot it will be 40 years since the launch of BBC Breakfast Time on 17th January. Looks like Breakfast will be marking it in some way.

Well they did the specials for the 25th and 30th anniversaries (including recreating the original graphics and analogue clock for the 25/30th) so that's probably going to get wheeled out again. Examples on YouTube.

There is a 20th anniversary upload on YouTube as well.

Maybe they could show a sneek peak at the new set? And say something about it perhaps?

Nice. Although I suspect opinion on that might be… divided. Wink

Breakfast decided not to run the 8:59 sting as they were mid interview. Gallery shouted to News channel about the change, but they obviously didn't hear the instructions. I believe they run off the visual cue of the sting. But yes, messy!
