That makes sense. There’s not much advantage for anyone with Sky Q to switch to Glass/Stream, and there are disadvantages, namely they offer fewer channels and you’d lose the ability to record.

I can see though that if you’re upgrading from Freeview, it’s a good option, especially for those who don’t want or can’t have a dish.

If they want to migrate more Sky satellite customers, Glass/Stream need to offer some must-have new features.

The dealbreaker for me was the ability to have 4K HDR and Dolby Atmos in each room where my setup supports, rather than just wherever the main Sky Q box was. I was worried about losing the ability to record, but in all honesty it’s had zero negative impact on the way we watch things, in fact I’d say the opposite. The channels not on Sky Stream compared to Sky Q are ones that we never watched anyway but I can understand the reluctance to switch for those that do watch them.

I doubt though that most typical users are bothered enough about the 4K HDR / Dolby Atmos benefits to make the switch. For you personally, it may be a real game-changer, but I suspect most people are happy with a reasonably good setup for their main TV, but aren't craving the full cinema experience on the kitchen or bedroom telly.

Unless Sky can come up with a real, killer feature that the masses are desperate for, the only way I can see there being a major migration from Q to Stream/Glass is to announce satellite services are ending, and replace everyones boxes.

Correct, basic package, with basic Netflix. Doesn't seem much cop to me.
