Saturday Night Takeaway

They do it on The Late Late Show in Ireland too, although budgets being what they are there the prize is usually something like a bar of soap for everyone in the audience.

The Oprah thing has been parodied a lot but people don't realise that in the US, you have to pay tax on winnings and giveaways so the tax on the cars would be hefty although still cheaper than the actual car itself.

One of the benefits of RTE being dual funded is that sponsorship and product placement are allowed on the national broadcaster - I remember watching The Late Late Show highlights version which used to be aired weekly on a Monday at 5pm on Channel 4, and now and again we would see Gay Byrne promote a company or product, and then at the end he would say "and there is one for everybody in the audience" followed by a huge cheer and applause from the studio audience.

So you go into a studio audience and walk out with a hefty tax bill, lovely!

I note that this year's Ring My Bell neither mentioned Ring nor featured a Ring watermark. It still had the trademark chime sound, so probably worth the cost saving to Amazon.

Little Ant and Dec once again not live - if I saw right, there was an audience ticketing at Applause Store for a recording at 12.30pm today - so I guess this is when Little Ant and Dec was filmed.

Suspect that's due to the ages of the kids involved. Suspect the recording may be the End of the Show Show - presumably Ella Eyre is at the Brits tonight.

Also quite sad really how they’ve had to turn off the comments on posts featuring Little Ant and Dec, who are ultimately both only 6 years old.

If you are talking about their YouTube channel, SNT turns off their comments for every video I think
