This is why my Fire TV Cube and Nvidia Shield are set to 1080p/50Hz.

The Shield has an app called Refresh Rate which I've used to ensure apps stream at the correct framerate, it works on most apps including ITVX and Netflix, but not on Disney+ for example.

ITV have disabled AirPlay in their ITVX app on Apple TV. So if you use HomePods to listen to audio the app is pretty much broken. You can't watch anything. Great move ITV...

Don't know if this has been picked up before but ITV X Has a new channel/stream "Blast from The Past" currently showing The Raccoons.

It's the HD remasters, but a shame they're using the cropped to 16:9 versions. Only a couple of minutes watching and you can see the framing's a complete mess on half the shots- and several shots, including the end credits were stretched! There is a 4:3 version of the remaster which ITV should have gone for, ITV are usually good with using 4:3 versions of HD remasters (as clicking on the Crime Drama FAST channel shows straight away).

Thanks for the tip, James2001 but you forgot to post a link.

Here's one... www.itv.com

Do they show anything other than The Raccoons?

Cheers again, pal.

What tip did James post then? All I can see is that somebody's done yet another "HD" bodge on something that totally unsuitable for it... So the tip must be don't watch it! Smile

As to what else do they show... It's basically a random selection of stuff from the ITV catalogue they happen to either already own or have licences for, and seems to have some Britbox content on it too, apparently. As I write now, they're "airing" Camberwick Green, which having looked this up debuted on BBC 1 in the 1960s... That must be Britbox, surely?

That's not strictly true, it is a proper HD remaster, it's just ITV have for some reason gone for the cropped 16:9 version even though there is a 4:3 version of the remaster.

It's not like "HD versions" of The Simpsons or The Thin Blue Line which literally are just upscaled and cropped 4:3 SD.

Oh for goodness sake, why is 4:3 considered the reincarnation of the devil these days?

Dunno, as I said, ITV are usually good at using 4:3 versions of HD remasters. Unless for some reason they weren't offered them.

I don't think it's random. Earlier they showed episode 7 of Camberwick Green followed by episode 8. They are currently showing episode 9 and apparently episode 10 is next. Even if they only had those 4 episodes to schedule, the chances of them coming up in order when chosen at random is.. well I'm but a mathematician, but it must be quite low. I think they just have a normal schedule like any other channel, the only difference is they don't, as far as I know, publish it anywhere that the likes of you or me can access.
