I've deleted my previous post which asked what this annoying animation was that keeps firing. It's gone off at least half a dozen times during the 1200BST bulletin and for no reason?

I don’t mind it really - just a transition between the video/content framing on screen.  In the first instance in your video, it appears to have just been fired early/by mistake - I also suspect the reporter wasn’t meant to remain on screen given how long Lucy was talking for after thanking him, which makes me wonder if someone selected the wrong template when trying to bring in the Florida shot?

Or maybe that device in Lucy's hand fires it as well as runs her autocue! ;-)

I suspect the old titles are just temporary... the "newer" version might be the one shown on the shoulder TV screens

All lower-thirds now uses the OS "one-liner" style wordings.

The titles are a mess as expected - there are other options there without even commissioning someting new just to use as an intro sting now. Thought the 1 might move to Studio B today too.


Surely in the long run it's cheaper to do a wholesale rebrand all on one day (of the national news at least - I understand how the regional sets take time). Feels like this has already been rolled out in about 4 or 5 phases and it still isn't finished.

The countdown is extremely TV Forum mock. I don't mind it but it really does feel like something you'd get in The Gallery.

It is something from The Gallery - PATV Scunthorpe made a mock countdown a couple of years ago that looks almost exactly like the new one.

But indeed, with BBC NEWS at the center, they have extended the cities network far to the left now, so this left angle won't appear so desolate. Also they made the cities less transparent and more black.
I think this might be the case for the Studio B titles of 6/10, as well, so the One titles (with more bleak cities closer to the globe) that we saw a couple of times, might be a somewhat unique thing.
