BBC News Pres: Apr 2023 - Present (News Channel/BBC One)

Sometimes a blip just goes into footage that looks like it would fit into the countdown [it even has the floating capital city names overlayed on it], then back to the blip, then into something different. Does anyone know what that's about?

Not gonna lie, that looks beautiful.

It looked pretty amazing in WNA blue, too. They could do a lot worse than to try to emulate some of those elements in Studios C and E when those get new sets, especially the large movable screens that give them so much presentational flexibility.

I’m still not entirely convinced by the desk - it almost looks wrongly assembled, like certain pieces aren’t properly attached or centred. But otherwise it’s a gorgeous set.

Yes, they lacked BBC News logo during the headlines, just like ABR.

Also, some cuts between those headlines looke a little bit... amateurish as they were too sharp, no fading in or away, just straight cut to and from rotating globe.

And there was an curiosity regarding date placement when using archival footage - instead of replacing Newsday ticker for several seconds, the date appeared above it.

The reason for the placement of that date and also the odd floating Asia Business Report title is that those graphics come from Singapore and they do not include the top line of the ticker with the BBC News logo which would normally animate up and down, so that part comes from London.

The reason for that presumably is that Singapore is not sending seperate feeds which would have been required when different graphics for BBC World News and BBC News were needed (hence no logo in the headline straps either) but since it's all BBC News now that shouldn't be a problem any more so need to update their graphics.

Aah it’s not a dream it’s for real, at least the Washington set looked decent.

9am hour slightly different to yesterday, we had a news in brief section mainly featuring UK news just before the first break, still not a fan of the meet the presenters features, flipper still stuck on bbc.co.uk/news, perhaps this is intentional

Still cant help the feeling this all feels abit remote and detached for us UK viewers who were used to the warmth and humour of the old News Channel

Across the UK sting has been edited, BBC and News have been removed

And just then an interview cut off mid sentence so that world can go to a break.

If you’re going to be sh*t, be sh*t on one version of the channel not both… just let world cut away and the UK continue obvious. 🤦🏼‍♂️

And there's the real indictment - a phrase we used to associate with GBNews...

It wasn't a break, it was for a random 5 minute episode of The Travel Show.

Yesterday, World had a 5 minute episode of Click repeated at around 0:52 at the end some hours throughout the day, today it's 5 minute episodes of The Travel Show.

Can a World viewer explain to me what the point of these random 5 minute programs at the end of some hours, but not others, are actually for?
