All of the flat red and grey around the newsroom loop cutout is still a bad bad idea. Half the time it looks like an average key, the rest looks like an okay idea that should have been addressed at the first rehearsal. The recreation of the side on displays from E and C made some sense when the set launched but can definitely be dropped now.
The original World NBH London skyline (or something very similar) like it would look great on B and be a point of difference so the audience knows it’s local output, not another boring NC hour on news from places that aren’t here.
Disappointing but in no way surprising that the current creative team completely missed the point of what made E great - it’s warmth and depth. They’ve gone to some effort in removing both of those for the loop when all they needed to do was film 90 minutes of newsroom activity from E and play it out in B.

First I've heard of tjis, but it doesn't sound like a particularly good move.

I expect we're talking 'reorganisation' of specialist teams, but ultimately disappointing, but not surprising. Specialist journalism is more expensive and, given the lack of policy analysis in the BBC's TV output, an extra easy target for cuts. I'm sure the BBC would argue that many of the Home Affairs issues can be covered by the Security and Legal teams, while immigration is so rarely viewed from anything other than a Political angle.

I think not viewing immigration from the political angle though should be seen as vitally important. Indeed arguably the same applies to all political issues - reporting should arguably be about the people affected not the politicians affecting.

Some posts about the announced BBC News reforms today have been moved to a dedicated thread. This does mean there may be some duplication as people were already discussing the same thing in two places.

It wasn't exactly live I don't believe. It was pre recorded. But yes great to see them out and about in the BBC Verify section. Wouldn't it be better if they did a whole 30/60 minute from the BBC verified area, and then it would be Verified Live

I guess this year will be the first Christmas since 2013 they won’t be putting a tree up in the newsroom. Considering E is now only used for 5 short bulletins at the weekend and the World feed still use it when C is unavailable.

I'd imagine they probably still will. It is also an office space and many across the country will be putting them up.
