And it begins, BT Sport Score is getting the axe as of the end of the season:

BT Sport have been good in investing in content such as this, their films, as well as things like the Vanarama National League. Will be interesting to see how much gets carried over to TNT Sports.

Was it that “popular” through? Even after all the (mostly self-inflicted) damage done to Soccer Saturday (now a shadow of what it was, I’m afraid) was there ever room in the market for three of this type of Saturday afternoon show?

I’ll be honest I don’t know anyone who watches BT Sport Score, but it must have been doing okay to justify its existence for so long.

I’d say more people probably watch Final Score, even if it’s just the last hour.

Couldn’t agree more about Soccer Saturday, Jeff Stelling is the only reason I still look in on the show now.

Did the massive sofa ever make a return?

On the one hand not a surprise at all, but on the other it was supposedly holding it's own - Final Score has never been great and doesn't always get a slot on the red button stream anymore whilst Soccer Saturday has seen significant changes in the last couple of years, so there was room for a third player arguably.

That said we've all seen how a Discovery merger has played out in the US, so I suspect they'll be quite brutal in the joint venture with BT Sport too.

It did not - just individual chairs. Probably wouldn't have fitted into WBD's new studio in Stockley Park anyway.

I'm not sure what the figures were like, but someone upstairs must have thought it was worth persevering for 7 seasons. Hopefully Darrell Currie will be well enough to make an appearance before it goes, though Jules Breach has done a good job in the presenter's chair since he's been away.

Indeed - there'll be little bits throughout the Champions League coverage but particularly at half time.

Saw the first one during the Leeds V Newcastle promotion before their Champions League coverage began. They used the tagline, "New Name, Same Game."

Is this the last time we will see the BT Sport Studio in Champions League mode?
