Very telling if you ask me, can't imagine why they'd use that and not the current logo and Reith instead.

You'd think that NI has the same branding as other regions, but nope. Sunday Politics is alive and well in NI, even after 2020.
Still with a picture of Andrew Neil in the opening titles!

So it is. I'd forgotten that was there!

It's not the first combination that would spring to mind if you asked me for a picture of Andrew Neil and a younger female colleague, mind you.

Is there any particular reason they've kept that branding and not changed to Politics Northern Ireland, in line with the rest of the UK nations and regions?

I guess it's simply just a case of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".

Based on that the independent companies are doing the right thing by using the old logo.
Maybe we should have a whip around or increase the license fee by a further penny to pay for positions to be brand angels, replacing the old ones on programmes and updating policies.
Joking aside, I can't believe the BBC's own website are instructing independent companies to use the old logo on their programmes.

Sadly I can but considering there are shows that get it right there must be an updated set of guidelines around too.

I suspect it’s more a case of individual graphic designers working on programmes doing their own thing, knowing the BBC logo changed several years ago.

It's because they haven't updated the endboard templates on their website.

Doing my usual flick through YouTube and came across a clip from the 2023 Barbie movie (stay with me on this). The clip was an advert for “depressed Barbie”. There’s part of the clip which talks about the Barbie laying around all day watching BBCs pride and prejudice after which a short clip of it’s shown with a BBC logo top left….it is of course the 1997 logo. Did make me smile.
