The Guardian published a lengthy report on how CNN’s new direction is going, and how much the layoffs, decreasing ratings and its return to a centrist direction in editorial policy is affecting them:

Good spot. Weird that they changed the title card but not the EPG, which still says “CNN Newsroom with Poppy Harlow and Jim Sciutto”. Early Start, however, has been updated in the EPG to “Early Start with Christine Romans”.
It seems I assumed wrong! Bianna Golodryga is co-anchoring this morning.

Can't really complain about the moves in the White House reporting team! Phil Mattingly was the obvious choice to take the top role and rightly so and a good promotion for MJ Lee who is also a very good reporter on screen. Pleased that we will see more of her.

Really pleased for Phil Mattingly. He’s an excellent corespondent and journalist and deserves the promotion.

Layoffs underway at CNN.  Some people being notified today (November 30) — largely paid contributors.

Impacted employees find out tomorrow (December 1).

Still unknown as to who and what are being cut.  We should know by this time tomorrow though.  Undecided

Seems like HLN and Morning Express is on on the chopping block. What remains after the his round of layoffs will be interesting.

Terrible news for the Morning Express teams. Sad to see a whole network gutted. Also sad to hear of Alison Kosik and Martin Savage being let go.

EDIT: Looks like Ana Cabrera is following Laura Jarrett and moving over to MSNBC:
