Sky News

Sky News had this phase before,  after the move to the big stage from its earlier incarnation they were quite expansive in their direction,  then over compensated with too close shots for ages after.

History repeating. Unfortunately.

So one hour of Sky News Tonight will stay? Because I fear that the show will be terminated in order to make space for the new show. Yet definitely it won't come from Westminster anymore with the Politics Hub one hour prior to it? Just to say I really like the SNT backdrop behind Anna, finally an appropriate background after all these years of a plain blue video wall background during these news hours.

Yalda is still very much at the BBC, in fact I saw that she had an interview with Ukraine's First Lady air yesterday, so we'll probably be waiting a while until we see the completed slate of new evening shows

As far as we know, the new evening schedule will be Politics Hub with Sophy > SJM's new show at 8 and then Yalda at 9.

Thanks for the comments regarding the current whereabouts of former paper reviewer Polly Mackenzie.

She's not the only former paper reviewer on the news channels now in academia; anyone remember Louise Cooper, the shouty financial commentator?

Ms Louise Cooper - Academic profiles - Kingston University London

Another thing; what's happened to the financial commentators in general as prior to the pandemic, they were always regular contributors in some form or another on either Sky or BBC news channels?  People like Justin Urquhart Stewart (he of the Gordon Gekko braces), William Buik (a doppelganger for Penfold from Danger Mouse), plus another guy who looked like Max Headroom (but his name escapes me).

Only used at 8pm tonight - 9pm was as per normal with red straps, blue background.

I think you might mean David Buik and he can often be heard doing the financial news segments during Nick Ferrari's breakfast show on LBC, along with another former Sky News name in Michael Wilson. I believe they host a podcast together.

Yes, David Buik, my apologies; getting him mixed up with the champion flat racing jockey! Smile

On the subject of Political Correspondents - there hasn't been one live during the first 5am segment of The Early Rundown for a few weeks (I don't watch every day, but most). I had thought this might be a Summer Holiday reduction, but no live Tue/Wed/Thu at least this week.

Not sure about this week as I've turned off before then, but also over the Summer Holidays the 5.20-ish business segment was replaced by Sport
