I expected the set-up to emulate the promo: Kay on the left, with Mhari and Gareth on the right. I'm not convinced that this is the better option if I'm honest.

As suspected, the studio looks great in wide shots but on the close ups it could really just be any office. The view from the left hand side of the studio looks far better than the right, so I’m a little puzzled why they’ve put the main presenter in the middle of the desk rather than to the left (as we saw in the promo).
The format also seems a little confused - it appears they are trying to do something different with a newsreader and political correspondent ‘team’, but the actual content seems like standard rolling news and interviews. Would be good to see more topical discussion/insight if that’s what they are trying to go for.
A good semi-permanent effort in all, however, and looking forward to seeing what’s planned for the main Millbank studio (guessing they’ll want it finished before the election, even if the bulk of the coverage comes from the Sky Central again).
