And a new virtual sports studio for BBC Wales. And in typical BBC joined-up thinking, looks likely to be based on the recently departed Match of the Day studio in Salford.
The same theme/anthem as the men's Nations League used pre-match, and was also used in the world feed intro that featured during the draw ceremony earlier in the year.

Looks decent enough - is that within the BBC Cardiff building or is it being produced by an independent from elsewhere?
To be honest their studios overviewing the atrium looked very good anyway, and whilst there are obvious advantage to green screen studios it's getting a bit tiresome now they're being quite widely used.

It’s funny that Football where
Focus/Grandstand/Match of the Day using VR studios at the end of the 90s, it never took off and arguably they looked just as good as their real life equivalents.
I think the trend is here to stay on, in cost grounds at least.

Seemingly an in-house production from Central Square, as per (think they were making use of the ground floor production studio)
I was slightly more taken by the sight of RUV relying on a branded gazebo at the ground…

Am I right in thinking during it's latter Grandstand days that Football Focus was presented from inside a football?

On the subject of Football Focus, the Daily Mail is reporting that it may be subject to the axe, with viewing figures falling. Of course, viewing figures are down with almost every other programme and there seems to be no foundations to the headline in the article; as I've seen elsewhere, the programme was also up against the Women's World Cup during August this year.

Alex Scott has posted the below this evening, quite rightly rebutting the rumour.

Yes, that just read up as a beat up on Alex Scott - sadly a show losing 20-30% of its audience over the last 4 years is pretty much the norm now. Indeed if that's all Football Focus has lost it might be doing better than the overall trend.
I also think it's worth pointing out it's increasingly a lone sporting show in the Saturday afternoon schedule - Bargain Hunt etc. has become the norm now rather than the exception, even when there is content they could potentially run on the Saturday afternoon (e.g. Invictus Games highlights) they choose not to.

Plus, even then, it's got to be a relatively cheap programme to produce and will probably get more deliberate watches than yet another daytime repeat.
