I've been at work for most of today, but did watch C5 opt into Sky's coverage at 8am (Sky having started their show at 7.30am) and there was the same audio issue that you describe then. No audio at all for the first minute or so - whilst Sky did have audio.

This is exactly what happened (but with Channel 4's dog there rather than Channel 5's) when C4 simulcast the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix a couple of years ago. It's good for Sky to be seen as the 'host' of the coverage for anybody switching on, I guess, not C5 themselves.
Of course, the main match feed for ICC cricket events are provided by the ICC, and Sky (and all other worldwide broadcasters) take these - so it was only the wraparound that was Sky produced, not the match coverage or commentary.

Though the picture breakup on the early stages of the S4C's football coverage was the fault of my TV/aerial/set-up, but after switching over to the S4C Clic stream and the below it appears the problem is on S4C's end.
Seems to have fully cleared up by now, with the anthems worst affected.

Seperately, I'm quite surprised that a country of the size and such a big football nation as Spain is on the list of countries that has to rely on the UEFA.tv streaming service for non-Spanish matches.
With outcomes such as the above, and the late and inadequate deal in the UK with Premier Sports (now Viaplay) and late deals elsewhere, you have to wonder what had gone wrong with UEFA's strategy for this right cycle.

Barbara Slater and Niall Sloane were up in front of the Culture select committee yesterday, with both warning over the financial viability of FTA sport, especially the upcoming Six Nations rights negotiations.
Slater also wished for the 3pm blacckout to be lifted for women's football, citing the BBC's record WSL figures this Saturday gone.

The sooner Barbara Slater is gone the better - she's been nothing but a disaster for BBC Sport, even when accounting for how much of a disaster the licence fee freezes have been over the last 13 years too.

Not much chatter about her successor, but the role desperately needs someone with sports broadcasting experience rather than another BBC executive moving across. The only rumour I could see is regarding the current BBC Head of Cricket and/or Football Stephen Lyle, who was the Head of Sport at Channel 4 until 2019.

I assume the rights to both tours are still sold separately but can't help but think that the WTA Tour got more exposure when BT had it exclusively and it wasn't having to compete alongside the mens events for attention.
Hopefully they built upon the individual court coverage and on demand match coverage that Amazon ultimately did so well but I assume they'll launch a dedicated Sky Sports Tennis channel and use Sky Sports Mix when there are clashes.

Tennis TV has confirmed that it will continue in the UK offering ATP action. Will be interesting to see if WTA TV returns to being available in the UK, as the two combined will probably be cheaper than Sky for those that are interested in just tennis. Plus presumably you can watch any court on any channel on Tennis TV, not something that could be said for NOW.

Can anyone remember how much of their own coverage did Sky produce when they first had the ATP rights? I guess they won't do more than Amazon, bringing in studio coverage and their own comms for Masters events, with everything else world feed only.

I was not aware of this, but the majority of rugby league Super League matches will be available on a streaming platform, in addition to Sky Sports. Sky subscribers will have access to all matches, with two per round exclusive, with the other matches shown non-exclusively.

The fixtures for next year were published yesterday. I'm surprised to see so many matches seemingly clashing (three on the opening Friday for example). I would have thought they would like to space the matches out to maximise viewing.

Over in union, starting with last week, TNT Sports are starting to air most of the Gallagher Premiership games they didn't pick to show live on the lower numbered channels and Discovery+. This is reminiscent of the lockdown setup that had every game shown on BT Sport. These extra games are still available to view via PRTV Live on the Premiership website/app.
I would imagine the showing of all games in one way or another would be the default for the next rights deal.

I think it's much better with club matches outside the Premier League where viewers are more likely to watch the club rather the sport to offer multiple games in one slot. Makes it easier firstly for the fans attending, and secondly for viewers to know when a match is likely to be taking place rather than having multiple kick-off times over the weekend and games moving from week to week.
Of course unlike the Premier League other sports have to fight to be heard above the Premier League too - so perhaps better to focus on the slots where there is no or little top tier football rather than sacrifice some matches against the big football games, especially as that might impact crowds too.
