Quite a lot -- he was president more than 41 years ago (his term ended January 20, 1981).  Anyone who was actually a working journalist when Carter was still president would likely be in their 60s or older today.  More and more of those people retire every day.

Much of Carter's legacy is from his post-presidency years though.  His Carter Center is a big deal, etc.

He also does a lot for Habitat for Humanity
