I guess Fred Sirieix is our Snoop Dogg! Of course though as well as the Feench vonnection his daughter is a highly ranked diver too.
Great use of their talent and presumably Clare/Gabby will be in the studio when not at the venue to cover other events. No mention of Olympic Breakfast - I'm guessing Breakfast will air from Salford from 6-8 on BBC1 and then shift to BBC2, which would allow regional bulletins through to 8am which is fair enough really.
Still gutting we no longer get the full BBC Olympic experience but Discovery don't even come close when it comes to the lead coverage. Hopefully their extra content is far more user friendly than it was in 2021, although that said the way the BBC handles multiple streams lately isn't as user friendly with you having to go back to an iPlayer menu rather than browse within what you're watching, though we'll see if Gkastonbury/Wimbledon improve on that.
5Live wise their coverage begins at 10am and they've Chappers in a Cafe on the afternoon shift. Great he's on the highlights and noteable Alex Scott isn't involved having been parachuted into the primetime highlights in Tokyo - a role that didn't play to her strengths.

Good that the BBC have signed up Jaz Sawyers. She's proved an excellent field event analyst explaining the technical aspects when she has been in the commentary box previously - and as a jumper complements thrower Steve Backley well

This weekends UK Championships and Olympic Trial are as usual nowadays a red button/iPlayer only affair - though no hint at all on the BBC Sport website of them coming up this weekend. Even an article on the trials doesn't mention coverage.

They've been given a plug on the Eastbourne tennis coverage today.

Samsung will sponsor Eurosport's coverage

Surprised no details from then yet. But I won't be surprised if there will be quite a few crossovers from those who appear on TNT Sports. Another of those names, Laura Winter, has been announced as joining the Eurosport cycling team to host the Tour de France Femmes.

Blame the wonderful owners of TNT for that, the ones who have taken away the best FA Cup matches away from free to air TV. Not any surprise the BBC are once again left with the scraps of the Olympics

Or blame the IOC for going behind the backs of all their long running FTA partners across Europe in 2015 to do a deal with Discovery, knowing that it will likely restrict the amount of FTA visibilty of their event across Europe. Or for the BBC Sport negotiators for failing to get a more sizeable share of the action like some of their respective broadcasters across Europe when they sublet from Discovery in 2016 or when the new EBU-WBD Olympics deal was agreed.

Even if you subscibed to Eurosport, the "extra channels" last time were quite poor, much of the time not showing things of interest to a UK audience at all. The BBC losing all those extra feeds has been terrible. You needed to subscribe again to Discovery+ on top of that to get the sport you actually wanted.

The BBC negotiators can not be blamed one little bit, Discovery know the BBC can't afford more coverage, they have a limitless coverage. TNT/Discovery and IOC are the people to blame.

And some of them had different audio to the sports they were showing. Really was quite poor and would have probably been easier for them to let the BBC have half a dozen streams or so and handle the linear additional output whilst having the streaming rights themselves.
I would guess those won't appear this time with it all just being via Discovery+. Last time I had the channels via Amazon Prime and Eurosport Player, which I could only watch via the laptop as the smart TV app had stopped working months prior. I cancelled after that and haven't had Discovery+ at all since but will probably for the games. Even if I mainly watch the BBC live events in Paris will finish around 9pm so probably catch up on other things then, assuming that is possible.

Exactly. IMO Thomas Bach has been a disaster for the IOC, taking coverage away from free to air TV in it's European heartland and also making a mess of the bidding process by basically taking it behind closed doors. Brisbane 2032 is basically a retirement present for an Aussie IOC member and they're currently looking at building a temporary athletics stadium smaller than what Birmingham had for the Commonwealth Games.
Business wise as is so often the case the short term gain is usually short sighted. We saw with the BBC how they basically ended up paying Discovery more for less (though as you say a bad deal on the BBC's part) - but it just shows that it's likely had the IOC gone directly to the EBU and PSBs they could have made more money themselves rather than gifted the profit to Discovery.
