They’re now singing as well as shouting:

Iain Dale has stepped down from LBC in order to seek a candidacy for the election.

He stood in North Norfolk in 2005, which was held by the Lib Dems - and made a number of attempts to win the Tory candidacy for a couple more seats before going into broadcasting instead.

Wouldn’t be surprised if he falls back on his podcasts at least if he’s unsuccessful this time.

They’ve all but said he’s coming back after the election. I think the Q is whether it’s as a full time presenter after an unsuccessful election bid, or as an MP with a weekend show.

The thinking is he's going to stand in Tunbridge Wells which is generally seen as a safe Tory seat

Well that is going to make today's For The Many, essential listening.

And three days later he's now withdrawn. It seems like saying he doesn't like Tunbridge Wells, and then standing for MP of Tunbridge Wells isn't a great idea.

So he was back on LBC this morning, as a guest

I'm guessing LBC didn't replace him yet...

The words “publicity”, “tacky” and “stunt” come to mind

Ali Miraj has covered the slot this week and they said they'd announce an 'election evening schedule' soon...

Can he go back inside the election period? Will they want him back?

Jacqui Smith has tweeted (or xed?) that she looks forward to having him back on the For The Many Podcast, but that was always the plan post-election anyway.

Interestingly, I was with Ali on Tuesday night at the moment the news about Iain broke.

I wouldn't want to violate any confidences, but let's just say it was a very amusing conversation!
