Hopefully Kroll will be given access to all of Peter Simon's WhatsApps, diaries and notebooks in full.

I'm glad the BBC has recognised the importance of Peter Simon, and put a picture of him at the top of the article.

I remember going to see him in local panto, then after the panto was over they set up TV equipment and did a live link to Andi in the broomcupboard- always wish I could see it again!

Probably work his way round all of the shopping channels in due course, after all the BBC article suggests the buying habits of customers have changed which is what killed Ideal so maybe we're due for a spot of consolidation in TV shopping.

The man target and the biggest of them all is clearly QVC which is probably the most stable and least likely to fail. Though whether Mr Simon would be able to fall over anything on what is probably a more classy channel than Ideal we'll probably never know.

This is a serious and not facetious question - does anyone actually watch any shopping channel anymore? Are they even in BARB these days? I appreciate they will generate a percentage of sales from their online operations but I’m amazed any company of Ideal World’s type and size is remotely viable in 2023.

Yes they do and yes they are, but declining on both measures, demonstrably.
