Neighbours is coming back!

I wonder how much Amazon product placement will make it into the new Neighbours... you could have characters overhearing someone ordering a pregnancy test through Alexa, infidelity being caught on their Ring security system, and everyone shopping at their local Amazon Fresh store.

I remember in the early 2010's there were a heavy amount of scenes with every character carrying the latest iPhone at the time. There was even one scene where one of the youngsters says to another character "I love my iPhone" in a random scene where the two characters were messing around on their phones.

Not only that, but also almost every laptop seen on-screen was a MacBook Pro or MacBook Air. Even the desktops were all iMac. Neighbours must've had a very generous long term product placement deal with Apple, for almost everyone in Erinsborough to be owning Apple devices. It'd be too much of a coincidence otherwise.

I wonder if they basically see Neighbours as the Judge Judy of the UK in terms of profile, you’d think the later would be more expensive but I’d imagine she’s on much more than the Neighbours cast combined for a start.

Well Judge Judy was relatively quick to make, as they could do an entire season's worth of material in IIRC something ridiculously short like 50 filming days a year, and I wouldn't be surprised if the Judy Justice spin-off is just as quick to make, though apparently she is on significantly less money (half as much) than on the Judge Judy programme.

Something like Neighbours will be more expensive to make, as those sort of productions need a bigger team to pull it off (and knock out the 200 episodes reported by the DS article).

The 2011 season will be the first batch of 'classic' episodes uploaded to Amazon Freevee next month:

That's a bit of a strange year, I got the impressing they'd be going from the start.

2011 wasn’t a standout year of the show.
