It must also be said that the weather green screen studio looks a lot better than usual - for as long as I can remember the CSO and picture quality has been really poor.

I'm not surprised.
Hull is essentially just a sub-region. It has only ever had a seperate Look North (and no longer even that, in the case of weekday breakfast bulletins). As well as Hull never having had seperate non-news programmes like Inside Out etc, the Hull operation doesn't have many of the trappings of a fully-fledged region (e.g. its own weather presenters). I also believe that there is only one "Head of Region" person (presumably primarily based in Leeds) for the entire original pan-region nowadays (although I think that the Hull operation did have its own seperate such head honcho at one stage).
Given that all of this means that Leeds & Hull are essentially two sides of the same coin, rather than fully seperate regions as such, it seems inherently logical that they would be paired-up when it comes to the current set upgrade rollout.

If they are doing the HD infrastructure as part of this, it might make sense to do Leeds and Hull as a pair given the non-standard opt out facility.
The temporary studio looks so much better lit than the normal one

Unless I’ve missed it… I’m surprised nobody has mentioned the new set for Look North (Hull) has made its debut.

Looks like Look North Hull studio is complete, Peter is in a bigger studio this evening.

Quite liked how they started the headline bed whilst Reeta was doing her goodbyes. Made the whole handover a bit more seamless.
What does that say about a channel if it scares fish? Just talk me through that.

Probably predictable, but the feed of Paul on the big screen in Hull is delayed compared to the audio, with a clear lipsync issue during the two-way banter. Not sure that's fixable without adding extra delay to match

Unsurprisingly, the standard design, although it does look a little bit shallower - the side walls look a bit smaller than the Midlands regions and the cameras clearly can't get as far back. This isn't particularly surprising as the studio is very narrow, though it's also why a little bit of bespokeness in the designs would've been a good idea.
