GB News

How would he do a like-for-like comparison taking into account other ways of watching  the BBC (eg their apps/website, as well as BBC2 at times). Is that possible?

As far as I know, the only way to compare like with like is by using BARB, as ‘scottygb’ appears to have done.

BARB is just one source and the most visible. Now I'm curious as to how GB News could make this claim. Is there something they know that we don't know?

GBN have previously used online figures to boost their overall share, along with figures for watching content on catch-up/YouTube.

It seems to suit them to use BARB when they beat Sky or BBC News in one 15 minute quarter and online for others.

So presumably the BBC can add the simucasts of Breakfast, the news at one,six and ten on BBC ONE to their figures and of course the morning BBC 2 simucast.

He is so clearly being dishonest

One of their audience has tried to prove he is right by posting data which stripped out the time periods they lost - but only ended up proving that GB News only beat both Sky News and the BBC News Channel in at most 15 quarter hour periods across the 72 between 6am and 12midnight.

BBC News beat them from 10.30am to 6.30pm and Sky beat them from 8.15-10am, 11.45-4pm and 5-7pm, along with other shorter periods.

It isn't true though.

Interesting that Scott Bryan doesn't dispute them beating Sky News, who are their main commercial rival.

The report from Brekkie explains it all very well.

It appears that GB News does better when BBC News is simulcasting Breakfast with sign language, but some of those 15 min shares where they 'win' by beating Sky by either 0.01% or 0.03% is petty.

Yet why they're so obsessed with beating actual real news channels is complete nonsense when their nearest competitors are really TalkTV/Radio and LBC.

There are points in the day where they do punch above their weight with Breakfast being one of them, and also Farage and at 10pm too. Obviously the BBC audience at that times will likely gravitate to BBC1 for mornings and late night, and C4 News may pull audience away from Sky and the BBC at 7pm, but there are times in the day where they do have something to gloat about, even if it's a narrow win. However by trying to extrapolate that to say they're thrashing the BBC and Sky all day means that doesn't become the story and the 14 hours or so they're not beating either of them does.

Not really rivals when you consider how toxic the channel is to advertisers thanks to Neil Oliver, Dan and Farage.
