Over thinking by the Eurovision team - this is not rocket science, why do they always have to mess around with formats. The more the meddle with it, the worse it usually becomes.

BBC Three repeating last year's final tonight. Quite a noticeable anti-strobe vignette popping up every now and then. A bit distracting.
What does that say about a channel if it scares fish? Just talk me through that.

How do you know it won't work? You haven't seen it yet. It's absolutely right they continue to innovate the format, we wouldn't have had the semi finals or indeed the current separate televote and jury score system, arguably the most exciting change made to the format in decades, without a bit of innovation.

Yes really distracting, and very unnecessary given that they've got the strobe warnings on before the songs anyway. There was a bit during the opening that made it very difficult to make out what was actually happening on screen, it was that dark. They've been doing the same with the iPlayer channel.

Speculation on other forums that Australia might withdraw after this year as SBS have not done anything extra or done much promotion on Social Media.

Not sure how close they are to withdrawing, but I suspect they’re fed up of not really getting anywhere. An Australia win felt an inevitability at some point when they first started competing but they’ve become stuck in a rut. Their entry last year only getting 2 points in the televoting must have hurt.

Would that be where the screen is 'dimmed' for want of a better word? Similar to how in many dramas the lessen the effect in a similar way.

Watching the 2022 final on BBC iPlayer (the one that aired on BBC Three last night) and some of the strobe-reducing effects make it a bit unwatchable. It goes dark with a weird circular cutout and then all of a sudden goes bright again.
Compare that with performances without the anti-strobe effect...

Not sure if this is official but the M&S Bank Arena has been temporarily renamed the BBC Arena for Eurovision week.

Speaking as a local, I don't know anyone who doesn't still call it the Echo Arena anyway. At least BBC Arena rolls of the tongue easier than its current name.

What's the BBC policy on branded venue names being used on air for sport or entertainment events?
