If GB News in their first weeks had put up a caption saying “Lonodn” it would have been shared and ridiculed widely. Now it’s standard practice on the BBC. How far they’ve fallen.

They failed to verify the caption before putting it to air then…

Little interesting tidbit that Newscaststudio uncovered about BBC Verify. Apparently Tegna stations in the US have been using VERIFY as their fact checking brand for their US station since 2017 and they have a global trademark for its use regarding news and fact checking. Seems like maybe someone didnt do their homework.....perhaps verifying the brand wasnt already in use. (so I had to.....come on).

Maybe they - the BBC - could use an already existing brand they already own and raise public awareness of and that is BBC Monitoring.

So these are the special formats they've been meticulously planning and rehearsing for the past 3 months? All you can do is laugh.

That raises the question are all lives from "London" or "Lonodn" now branded as just "London" for the benefit of World News viewers, or are they still sometimes more specific even for live links away from the flagship locations such as Westminster, Buckingham Palace etc?

That is also very strange as at the time the feed is UK only, as the rest of the world are watching Focus on Africa.

Varies, as before there doesn't seem to be an especially consistent rule and it seems to depend on who is in charge of the graphics at that time.

I'm convinced that the at-launch looks for The Catch Up and (The) Context *were* indicative of what was (at that time) intended to eventually come for most/all other BBC News output, but that there has been a change of direction since. As you rightly say, it's a shame.

The original Context titles were dire. Looked like a basketball court for some bizarre reason. Teal isn’t a BBC News colour either.
