Those titles look weird, I am sure a crash course in Adobe After Effects we could produce it.

Subtly adjusting the speed of motion and also the size of the disc as it plays out would go a long way to making these looks vaguely professional

I do think people are being unnecessarily harsh on the main graphics - it's not like what they replaced was much more than text on some footage or a fairly generic orange background. Even those 2000 titles were essentially just a bit of 3D text and probably didn't compare well to the final Breakfast News look at the time.
The blue circle does it's job of being instantly noticeable and therefore recognisable as the shows branding in a similar manner to how the GMB blob acts too. It's clear distinctive branding which although undeniably simple feels fresh, clean and modern - something that you'd struggle to find elsewhere on BBC News at the moment.
And random thought but is it a loose link to the BBC1 lens idents too?

One minor thing I’m not keen on in the new studio is the concrete pillar to the left of the sofa which makes it look a bit unfinished. Wrapping it in grey vinyl would look better and bring it in line with the columns in NBH B.

Yes, that looks a bit unfinished - as if there should be a vertical screen in front of it.

As with a lot of a design approved for air on the BBC, its design by committee. The committee says make it simple, and then proceeds to squeeze and discuss away any imagination out of any of the current news opening graphics that are presented. Until the viewers are left with designs that are so basic its frankly boring. Gradient primary colours and moving shapes. They have taken flat design to an extreme. No where else they can go from here until its just use one colour and just the programme title typed out. Geez.

If the BBC Breakfast name was within the circle like that, it wouldn’t be half as bad, as it forms part of the logo and makes a bit more sense visually, rather than just a random floating shape.

I actually quite like it. It matches the other structural column you see from the outside with the AR clock shot.
Did Sally get the
'standing news' gig again today or are the presenters taking it in turns?

It was Jon this morning.
Love the concrete pillar - but then I love exposed concrete in all buildings.
