International News Presentation: Past and Present

Special News Report on 911, ATV, Hong Kong, 2001.

The station notably put their hit show, the localized edition of WWTBAM, on hold to report on "a rare air accident" in the US. Full coverage followed as the incident unfolded.

This contrasted to what TVB did: A special report in the middle of their rival show The Weakest Link (also localized), then continued to play TV drama until the second plane crash, which forced them to switch to live coverage. This is ATV's initial newsflash (in Cantonese, contains footage of the crashed WTC building):

i-Cable News, Hong Kong, 12/9/2022. After retiring the Frontline News brand
back in June, the department has a new set.

Compared to the previous set, it is much brighter, had less screen and featured a much larger desk, killing off the unique stand-up news format of the old News team. This is its quiet debut on Morning News:

[Update] From HKEPC's Digital Broadcasting subforum, looks like the new set is a temporary one from the Tokyo Olympics, while the main one is under renovation. Not too sure why they'd opt for a smaller centre screen:

And the new set is on in late September. Not just a new studio, but the branding is also under a big overhaul - it's now WANF, or Atlanta News First:

Slovakian commercial broadcaster TV JOJ (owned by local investment group J&T) launched this Sunday the country's third news channel, JOJ 24. It airs a mix of original news shows and imported documentaries with TV JOJ news simulcasts. The channel launched without much fanfare with a simulcast of the main channel's Krimi Noviny. JOJ 24 will join the veteran TA3 channel and RTVS 24, the offering of the public service media (which soft launched in the place of archive channel Trójka at the outset of the Ukraine invasion, before moving into its own frequency in June).
