Really liking the graphics on the cycling - simple but nicely designed. Small but very clear.
The BBC Sport wipe is nice too - though odd relatively minor events in the last month have all had the new mic flags whilst the flagship Wimbledon coverage had the old ones.

DAZN have secured exclusive rights to air the Saudi Pro League in the UK. I'm tempted to say it's hard to say which one is less relevant to a UK audience.

And the latest news in the search for a host of the 2026 Commonwealth Games is that the CGF is willing to delay the event to 2027 if neccessary to help find a host. This would then be in the same year as the world championships in swimming and athletics at least, but the extraordinariness of the last few years has presented a precedent of this occuring last year.

Do they want all the swimming and athletics teams to be B Teams.

Would be the European Games too, but don't think a host is in place for that either.

'Enhancments' to the broadcast of La Liga matches this season, along with the new graphics, title sponsor, theme etc. Mad that a big five league does not have a goal line technology a decade after it's been introduced - it's quick, provides an animation that helps the viewer and rarely is wrong (the first PL match after COVID the only major mistake I can remember). I doubt La Liga couldn't afford it if they really wanted it either.

In fairness, the atheltics is never full strength anyway (sadly). Last year did have a good lineup despite the Worlds only being a week before, and the Europeans also taking place for British athletes (caveat that it was a home games for the British athletes).
And some Australian swimmers did prioritise the Commonwealths over the Worlds last year, albeit in 2027 it will be a year out from the Olympics so priorities may be skewed.

Says a lot that I completely forgot their existence despite it only occuring a month ago!
If this year's schedule is replicated, there will be no swimming and the athletics will definitely be the European Team Championships - so a minor event with a lesser team. Triathlon, 3x3 basketball, badminton, boxing and rugby sevens the only other sports in 2023 EGs that are events that featured in the 2022 Commonwelaths; boxing aside (and there's plenty of extra British spaces in the Commonwealths anyway) I think it will be probable that athletes would double up if the scheduling works.

A few more UEFA qualifiers on BBC Scotland:
www.bbc.com
On an unrelated note, did the delay on the UCI road race on Sunday have a knock-on effect on BBC One's schedule? Most of it was on BBC Scotland and iPlayer, with the last few laps on One, but there was a 50 minute stoppage due to protestors earlier in the race. Even the commentators took a break at one point, with an on-screen caption saying they'd resume when the race did.

I was watching the iPlayer stream but caught the end of the BBC One coverage and Clare did say they stayed on air as they wanted to show the conclusion on BBC One. BBC One went off air before the medal ceremony, leaving the road race not long after 2nd, 3rd and 4th crossed the line, then had a brief round-up with Clare and Dame Sarah Storey, showed the run of the British winner of the downhill mountain biking and he had a short interview with Clare who then signed off. Coverage on BBC One ended at around 16:55 - I'm not sure how much later than planned that was.
