When it started, it was the same length as the adult show is now, but then they evidently shortened it, then moved it’s slot to Christmas when the main show moved to October so the two wouldn’t run too close together, and then it was moved back to Summer this year as the main show is airing in November/December.
I didn't watch Voice Kids but I remember looking at the schedules and seeing episode 3 being billed as "It's the final episode of the series!" and thought "Surely that can't be right, can it?".

I think the problem with it as others have mentioned is that the last couple of series have felt too rushed with the way they cut the number of episodes. To go straight from auditions to the final is weird with no middle bit. It definitely needed an extra episode or two.
Even if they'd kept the same number of hours but split it into 5 x 1 hr episodes with 3 auditions, a semi final and final it wouldn't have felt quite so rushed.
Strongly suspect Harry Potter will return to those post-Christmas slots now ITV have the rights again. They've kept it off the main channel this summer but ITV2 begins a nightly rerun tomorrow, which I think might be their first airing since ITV picked up the rights again.

The Bond films seem to rotate between ITV and Sky Cinema.

With regards to Voice Kids, the ratings have been very low for years but presumably they tagged the recording onto the end of the main series recording making it reasonably cost effective. I guess it’s reached the point where the ratings are so low it’s not economical any more.

I think Sky Movies/Cinema have only ever aquired teh rights to the James Bond Franchaise once 2012/13. The rest of the time they have been on ITV. Sky have shown some of the TV premieres before ITV

The ratings for the kids version haven't nosedived as much as the adult show but it's like programmes about dogs - those who love them love them, but they don't have mass appeal.

A bit disappointed Changing Ends isn’t there, I would’ve thought it’d be something ITV would air linear around the holiday season. Perfect in the Tuesday 08/8:30pm slot.

Not due on till early 2024, I presume alongside one of the other comedies they launched in June.
