GB News

Darren Grimes seems to be all over weekends on GB News now, considering it’s not long since his own show was axed. I saw he was presenting the old Alistair Stewart slot yesterday, which I assume has a different presenter most weeks and he’s covering Nana Akua now, that’s in addition to his role as lead anchor on The Saturday Five.

Sorry if that’s a bit rotary, but I just thought it’s interesting how his role seems to have been built up a bit since seemingly being dropped altogether at one time.

Christopher Hope doesn’t come across as polished as his predecessor. Perhaps he’ll get better.

GB News seemingly conducting a live street debate in Bromley at the moment. Quite good Telly.

When news broke late this morning that Daniel Khalife had been arrested MPs Esther McVey and Philip Davies were both on air. Obviously learning from previous criticism they crossed to the News Desk for the "Breaking News". Decision was then made to bring Martin Daubney on air 10 minutes early who obviously wasn't fully prepared so after doing what would have been the prepared programme introduction, Martin threw to the News probably as per the autocue but obviously it wasn't the top of the hour. Martin then stumbled for a few seconds not sure what to do then commenting "it's all gone wrong" as he was just lost before reaching for his script. Whilst Martin has come on leaps and bounds with his presentation style, this was a real test for him in live television. I did feel sorry for him today. I do though love his pronunciation of the word "digital" 😀.

As competent as you'd expect for that channel.

Not really necessary to make that comment.

GB News had actually broken the news seven minutes earlier at 11:43, with the newsreader, Tamsin (as can be seen by going back to that time on the YouTube live feed: www.youtube.com )

Clearly a last-minute decision was made to put Martin on air earlier than intended, and there was some confusion over the running order, and subsequently, some issues with the autocue.

Admittedly, it was a questionable decision for them to rush Martin on air like that, and they would've likely been better off returning to the newsreader to recap the story (allowing Martin and his production team more time to prepare).

However, the day to day running of GB News as of late is quite smooth, and I'd say they experience less issues than the new BBC News channel - GBN probably broke this story faster today too.

A couple of interviews have appeared that I assume must have been recorded in the new Westminster studios.

If Stewart’s interview with Camilla Tominey was recorded at the same time, I wonder if we may see the new set for the first time?

Would any of GBN’s usual defenders here like to defend the standard of this?
