BBC/ITV East News

Look East is currently using it's new IGS gallery from a temporary location, while the gallery is gutted and the kit can be moved over.

The opening titles for Politics East are still in SD, although the programme itself is in HD.

I would have thought that all those regional title sequences for 'Politics x' were created in HD at the same time.  I suppose it's just a matter of whether they are still being played out as downscaled to SD in Norwich.

Eventually the BBC will get around to chameleon-ising the Politics Live titles and scrolling background on the set, then all the regions will follow accordingly.

They already have. Whenever a new set launches the Politics strand receives new titles based on the new logo.

It's perhaps slightly ironic that the generated thumbnail for those URLs is using the old branding.

The weather failed to play just before 0700 so a valiant effort from Shaun Peel to fill the gap because there was nothing else they could play.

Interestingly whilst I understand they might not have a fallback graphic available - especially depending on what the technical problem was - but I'm surprised there wasn't a short read through weather summary available to hand to read from a paper script.

If I recall correctly the bulletin around 9am is the 'old-style' with the weather graphic onscreen and read out by the presenter, rather than a separate piece from a remote presenter. Shaun handled the time gap as best as he could, and didn't sound flustered by the breakdown.

Incidentally, when the breakfast weather is presented by Kate Kinsella those updates still have a 'dodgy internet' quality, though have improved a bit since the HD upgrade. By comparison when it was presented by someone else last week the quality seemed better, possibly being recorded from a different location / weather studio.

When Kate presents I think it is from home presumably using a mobile phone. I think the same for Lizzie. Sara seems to mix and match. Anyone who seems to be covering the hub seeks to always be in the London weather centre.

Looks like Politics East has a new title sequence. Gone are the various shots of the region.

Instead it's essentially shots of the presenter getting ready and going into the studio. I'm guessing the change may be in part due to going HD, as the old titles felt like they may have been SD clips. The old BBC logo is still present in the titles and the set.

They also opted for their own ident, consisting of footage outside The Forum.
