Not to sound insensitive to the dreadful situation in the middle east, but we've had virtually 24/7 endless rolling coverage of it on the news channel, and on BBC 1 bulletins, at the expense of almost all other news, for almost a month.
The revelations coming out of the Covid inquiry this week are damning, shocking and hugely damaging to the current government and the UK's system of government. The Covid inquiry should absolutely be getting headline and full coverage this week, at the expense of the middle east. I think UK viewers can manage without 24/7 rolling coverage of the middle east for a few days.
If the Six and Ten don't lead tonight with and dedicate a significant amount of time to coverage and analysis of today's revelations at the inquiry, the BBC has serious Qs to answer about it's editorial decisions.

The Lord Mayor's Show earlier in the day with some more left field appointments in Scott Mills on commentary and Mwaka Mudenda reporting. A bit of a departure from the likes of Dan Snow and Petric Trelawney who have commentated on that in the recent past.

Agreed but there should be a choice to view the world feed on iPlayer, it is license fee funded so should be on iplayer?

It doesn't necessarily need a news name/journalist, just someone with gravitas. The presenters remarks come across as if they could easily be pre-scripted. A pre-recorded open, some narration over the early films and performances, introducing the different military branches as they enter the hall and finally a brief close and 'plug' for the Cenotaph the next morning

I don't believe it is. Much of it is funded through subscriptions and advertising rather than the licence fee.

The old World channel was not at all funded directly from the licence (though would have received some licence money indirectly due to usage fees by the NC). By virtue of it being one channel, the new World feed will arguably be part-funded by licence money, but there are complications - even the default versions of the World feed carry sponsored content and some adverts, which the BBC aren't allowed to broadcast in the UK.
They could arguably create an ad-free version of the World feed, but there just isn't enough demand relative to the effort. I doubt many UK viewers are even aware of there being a World feed to begin with, and even then, the two feeds shows exactly the same thing for the overwhelming majority of UK viewing hours.

There are no rules saying you can't say f**k or bugger before a certain time. It's about context and the likely demographic of the viewer at the time of broadcast.
