The Sport Thread - For stuff not worthy of a thread of its own

Half expecting S4C to step in within a week or two and give it a linear platform, anyway (probably just the Welsh-language rights)

ITV1 had a sound effect earlier today during Gallagher's Premiership Rugby coverage. youtu.be

ITV's Premiership Rugby coverage this afternoon is using the graphics that were seen during the RWC tudio segments for their surounding presentation, whilst using the TNT Sports graphics for the actual match. Last week's highlights show at least used the ITV football graphics as last season, with the world feed using a mixture of the old BT Sport graphics and the new TNT Sports graphics (occasionaly, like below, both appear at once). So, across ITV's Premiership Rugby coverage there is four different graphic packages being used...

There was also a good three or four minutes of complete silence (on ITV X at least) during the build-up. Presenter Hugh Woozencroft apologised after the next break.

Was is just match coverage of the ITVX game in the last round or did they have presentation on site too?

Just the commentary team pre- and post-match and at half-time on the ITV X exclusive match last week.

That is a good shout. Being biased, I'd rather they (or BBC Wales) would broadcast the Newport match exclusively if they had to show a match next round, but the Wrexham match probably makes more sense financially etc.

Forgot to mention last week, but according to RugbyLeagueonTV, the FTA rights for Super League Rugby will probably be decided in the new year. Sky are also to show the NRL matches that are taking place in Las Vegas as well.

After the last two seasons had every game shown for free on YouTube, the plan was that to be significantly decreased from this season down to 19 out of 61.
Today they announced that now all group stage games will be shown for free. Initially this will be again on YouTube, though after matchday 4 this will be via the DAZN app/platforms only.

And now some of them will be on TNT. I wonder how this affects the YouTube plan?

The deal also includes matches from D1F (which BT have shown before), Spain's Liga F, and the Frauen-Bundesliga, which has previously been on BBC Alba.

Oh wow never thought I’d see the day but the Hindi feed for todays cricket semi final is on Sky Sports Arena, that is a masterclass move from Sky to give it a go, full credit to Sky to offer this.

At the time of writing, the upcoming DAZN YouTube feeds are still available in the UK.

All in all, not a bad deal for TNT Sports as the UWCL takes place in quieter midweeks of the men's calendar, such as international breaks, when TNT do have a football void in their schedules to plug. Plus, TNT were the only major football broadcaster in the UK without women's rights.

Good from DAZN's perspective that they are getting some value from their rights (presumably).

Ooh they are showing Star Sports Panther Cricket Live it must be a clean feed of star sports Hindi as it dosent have the annoying sponsorship inserts as seen on Star Sports Hindi itself. One thing to note is the graphics seem to be separate in design to the main cricket graphics on the world feed, this is where Sky have done well as when they’ve been there at the grounds, the graphics are in sync.

The cycling streaming platform GCN+ is to close abruptly on December 19th. Presumably everyone will be forced to Discovery+ now.

Given the announcement of the Day Of Reckoning boxing event on December 23rd has both Matchroom Boxing and Queensbury Productions involvement on the same card, does that mean that both TNT Sports and DAZN in the UK will both broadcast the fights on the night?
