The TV Gameshow Thread

Surprised really they didn't stick Tipping Point repeats at 3pm instead of Lingo reruns.  Other than for sporting preemptions think it must be it's first break since we'll before covid.

Have we had a story about “Tipping Point AXED in major shake up and viewers aren’t happy” yet

“one viewer took to X formerly known as twitter…, whilst another said…”

Complete with a completely out of context picture of Ben Shepherd looking like he’s fuming

The tabloids need to up their game, because most of the results under the news tab of a Google search for 'Tipping Point' results in 'country x is on a tipping point' type headlines, with one headline from Entertainment Daily which is not clickbaity, 'ITV replaces Tipping Point with Deal or No Deal in schedule shake-up'.

There was also this research, which is hardly groundbeaking tbh. Not sure what metric you can really measure University Challenge against Gladiators but they've managed it.

ZZZap!? The question mark panel?

I've had a long think about this and I'm afraid I'm going to have to rule that Have I Got News For You (no question mark BTW) doesn't count as a programme in the "Can you identify the subject matter of this picture" genre because the aim is not merely to identify the person or object, it's to say why they are in the news. I'm not aware of Zzzap's Question Mark Panel so will reserve judgement at this time.

Unrelated to the above and only loosely related to this thread, but without a requests forum or a more suitable thread I feel I need to post this song here. I've actually been looking for it for all my adult life and I suspect I am not the only one here who has been on that quest. To my surprise, despite many attempts over the years, today Shazam correctly identify it.

Turns out it's been sitting on YouTube for 7 years for us to discover. I'm really glad to have found it but also feel sadness that that part of my life has come to an end.

Looks like SRO are looking for people to sit in the audience for the reboot of Wheel of Fortune on ITV. Filming takes place in MediaCity in the next week or so.

As much as I think Graham Norton is a fantastic presenter, I can't see him fitting the format to be honest.

I mean, I'm curious if Graham Norton has an assistant to reveal the letters on the puzzle (like in various versions of 'Wheel of Fortune' in the past), or just Graham Norton on his own.

Have I Got News For You? is fine because it's a question in relation to your earlier post.

Yes, your query has finally been answered. It's a bit of an anti-climax after 25 years though, isn't it?

I often find that I hear a cover version before the original and end up preferring the cover version.

This is the case here. I much prefer the Crane, Varley and Duala version.

It's a little bit, yes. It doesn't quite have enough going for it to work as a full-length song and the singing isn't… great. But nice to have an answer! The question now is how did the makers of that promo even come across such an obscure song?!

I thought the Family Channel branding had been ditched by the time the channel morphed in to Challenge TV?
