ITV have got their chief News at Ten/Election Night presenter hosting, the BBC have now got someone who is unknown to BBC One viewers hosting

Interesting that there was no handover from Reeta to Geeta, given this is still on BBC One.

“Crashes” from one presenter to another are usual on the NC, but never BBC One. Even the regional news has a handover.

My guess is that Reeta is now getting a short break because she is probably going to be headlining the News at Six from Downing Street shortly, but it still looked a bit odd presentationally.

She did introduce herself though and it’s only for 15 minutes before presumably Reeta Chakrabarti takes over again at Six.

Today has been a very busy day for UK news and has highlighted the digital first strategy, from this morning the news channel has opted out of the world feed for the post office enquiry and PMQs but this afternoon in a run up to the speculation regarding the election a separate opt presented on the website whilst the UK continued with the post office and world it's normal schedule. Considering the reduction in staff numbers over the last year bravo to all concerned.

A slight pres slip-up just now, though, as we heard Reeta rehearsing the News at Six opening in the background while Geeta was talking.

This kind of thing often happens in Downing Street, difficult to avoid I suppose given it’s only a small street and the world’s media all descend on it at once at times like this!
