I know there is a fanzone on the other side of it but seems a bit shortsighted to obstruct their most noteable landmark in Berlin with a screen.

I wonder why both broadcasters chose to opt for outdoor and indoor studios. Not complaining, but it seems a little... unnecessary?
I guess if you've snagged yourself a decent vista from an internal set window, it probably isn't much more effort to stick a table and some chairs (or no chairs in the case of ITV) on the roof.

The weather can be quite humid in Germany during the Summer, so an outdoor set might be quite pleasant. But you wouldn't want to be out there when it's wet or windy.

I'm looking forward to seeing the WBD set in action at the Paris Olympics. I think theirs has windows rather than open to the elements.

There's a stack of cabins in the middle of Pariser Platz with the BBC's two studios, and the ITV indoor one (and possibly a couple of other broadcasters too). ITV's balcony is on the Akademie der Künst overlooking the square.

I believe the big screen in front of Brandenburg Gate folds away giving a view through it when it's not in use - but that's not a lot of use for the broadcasters who'll only be using their studios when there's a match on!

A couple of pictures of that studio area I took earlier. The square between the studios and the Brandenburg Gate is completely sealed off, and of course the fan zone is behind that.

It has got a lot, lot sunnier since then!

People might care more if Sky didn’t charge up to €10 pm (non discounted) on top of your already hefty sub for Ultra HD. I don’t know if such charges are the norm from providers in other countries, but you might understand why people might be reluctant to take it up if they don’t feel they are getting sufficient bang for their buck in terms of the benefit over HD.

Think it’s fairly common to have UHD in a higher tier, even if it’s not an add on charge.

Sky do offer a lot of UHD HDR, they can charge extra for it, whilst it will also help cover the extra cost. So one thing feeds another. They’ve also often been keen to be innovative in technology terms, which helps their image as a company.

It's all done from their studios at Macquarie Park in Sydney. Kelly Somers was hired by Optus last year for the Women's World Cup along a team of Australian on-air presenters and pundits.

The weather not helping the BBC's view of the Brandenburg Gate, rather dark right now.

Also the studio is rather echoey.

BBC coverage is available in HD HDR on iPlayer. Only mentioned at half time in tonight’s game. Shame no UHD, but at least the benefits of 1080p and HDR are available.

I can see why they have the outside option now, even if the VR element is just a bit weird: up.metropol247.co.uk
