Schedule changes and special progs following the death of HM Queen Elizabeth II
#21

I guess we move out of the open-ended rolling coverage into a more focused coverage of the key timetable events over the weekend with Queen-related programming in between.

Will be interesting to see what the schedules look like into next week, especially if the BBC introduce other aspects of programming into the BBC One schedule or if it's now like this for the 10 days.

The NTAs have been postponed and rescheduled for October.

Just confirmed by Scott Bryan on Twitter: Channel 4 is not running adverts - Gogglebox will be 45 minutes long as a result.

Definitely feels like the right call, if you look at the pile on Kevin Bridges is getting after doing a satirical joke that referenced - but wasn't disrespectful about - the Queen's passing. It doesn't seem to be the time to do their style of comedy, certainly not live.

That will go out as previously billed, all the changes are from 1000 onwards.

Sunday on BBC One and some originally scheduled programmes are starting to make an appearance:

06:00 Breakfast
09:00 Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg
10:00 Great North Run
11:30 HM The King: The National Proclamations
12:30 BBC News
14:00 Songs of Praise: Queen Elizabeth II
14:35 Elizabeth: Her Passions & Pastimes
15:35 The Queen and Us: 70s
16:35 The Queen and Us: 80s
17:35 BBC News and Weather
17:50 Regional News
18:00 Countryfile - Queen & Country
19:00 Antiques Roadshow: The Queen and Britannia
20:00 Frozen Planet II
21:00 The Capture
22:00 BBC News and Weather
22:55 Regional News
23:00 The Longest Reign: The Queen and Her People
00:00 BBC News

Not many changes at all on BBC Four all week, by the way, aside from a few documentaries about royalty-adjacent things being replaced, while almost the entire BBC Three schedule is being changed.

Channel 5 have updated for Saturday - other than a Princess Margaret documentary nothing seems to be dropped, but a lot of retiming to accommodate dropped adverts, and a 35 minute news currently scheduled at 1730

I hope this is the right thread to ask this question. Just out of interest, how did the televised service from St Paul’s interact with the first speech from the new King? I saw that both were scheduled for 6pm, but have been at work for the last four hours so didn’t see how it played out in terms of how they were both covered by the BBC.

Many thanks Smile

The Speech went out at 6 and the Service started immediately after it.
