It's really not that clear cut.
Tom Bradby is a senior news presenter and journalist on a public service broadcaster. There are both professional ethics, credibility and public perception issues at play here.
Is Tom doing a journalism led interview that contains appropriate challenge questioning to any contentious claims within the interview; Is he appropriately questioning the circumstances of the interview, and is the fact the interview is taking place to promote a book (and potential contractual requirements) scrutinised.
Basically the usual approach to journalism - challenging but not hostile.
Or is Tom Bradby doing an entertainment interview (of his personal friend) where a open platform is provided and the questions are to drive narrative rather than reveal facts the interviewee doesn't necessarily want to talk about - where questions that are tricky aren't followed up.
If its the later, how can ITV let Bradby present any news show where repercussions or subsequent events of the Sussex/Windsor are reported?
Is the interview ITV or QVC?
