I'd imagine they'd just use their main set for regional breakfast opts from Monday.  It's controlled by the same gallery as the new Breakfast/Sport studio, so is already staffed.

EDIT: However, you've got me intrigued as to what they'll do, so now I've set the tellybox to record 'BBC One NW HD' on Monday morning.

North West have a separate gallery for Breakfast opts. It can’t control their main studio.

What’s this moiré effect everyone goes on about that I can’t see?

It's the interference pattern when you're essentially creating an 'image of an image' and they are not properly aligned. It creates a swirling distorted effect within the final picture.

I'm sure one of our techy people on here can explain it better than me.

Unfortunately it has appeared on air in some of the new regional sets where the studios are quite small and the cameras are very close to the screens and at an off-set angle.

I'll try to find an example.

And only took 7 years but them finally doing what many of us wanted in 2016 and having sports news and Breakfast share a studio. Those couple of weeks Breakfast decamped to the sport studio during Rio 2016 are the only two weeks the show has had a studio worthy of it's status as the nations number one Breakfast TV Show over the last decade.

Visually looks great, but I will be interested to see how noisy the set is - it looks like it’s not totally shut off, which is fine when the newsroom is on show, but could be odd when it’s not.

I'd like it if the "window" view of MediaCity gets lighter/darker in tandem with reality, rather than being perpetually stuck at "sunrise"-coloured sky all morning long regardless of the season of the year.

Fat chance of that, I suspect.
