The 21st October 1996 date is a rather good suggestion, It still unclear why YTV waited over 6 week for the ident to get changed. Mind you it's also like Thames change in 1991, were still not a 100% if that was 4th Nov. Too many fly by night people made the same mistake with Central Cake going, we know it was April 98 but no one actully knew which monday, until very recently.

Yorkshire's ident probably wasn't ready. Tyne Tees's was the big 3 with some pulses that reveal the North East lettering. Yorkshire's version was more complex, the Y rotates to reveal the 3, which rotates to reveal another Y, which then starts spinning. I can see that taking longer to make the animation for.

I think it was move to do with the fact there was a backlash in Leeds. The oringal ident just had the Y rotates to reveal the 3 and stopping and ithe back lash got it extended to rotates to reveal another Y,

Or had there ever a version with just a Channel 3 Yorkshire branding just like TTTV, but they hated that so much and demanded to include the chveron in it (hastily, might I add)?

I've also found a 1996 Yorkshire for Channel 4 endcap which appears at the end of programmes produced for Channel 4 such as Countdown, except that the background does not feature the warped figure "3"s at all, sometimes with a copyright notice appearing at the bottom of the screen.
Here it is:

And i've also found a rare 1996 Tyne Tees for Channel 4 endcap from the Channel 3 era which also does not feature the warped figure "3"s in the background as well, here it is (0:00 to 0:05):

TT one is easy one, as around Januaray 1998 "channel 3 North East" branding started to get removed, YTV ref to it was gone by mid jan 98? of course Ident in TT never changed until 9th march.
While the YTV one is for channel 4, why would you have ref to channel 3 on channel 4?

I don't know.
Oh BTW, what programme is the rare 1996 Tyne Tees for Channel 4 endcap (during the C3-era) taken from at the end? Does anybody know?

Back in the days when the ITV companies made home videos, I wonder how many of the home video idents were identical to the ident they were using on ITV at the time, and also how many of them were rejected programme endboards or idents.

When Telly Tots was a strand on CiTV, they released at least two home videos under that banner.
They both have the Telly Tots ident used at the time on them, and the first volume even kept the sponsor bumper for some reason (have to presume it was intended).
From 65 seconds in, this is the first volume (there is no sponsor bumper at the other end of the video):

Central used one of their cake idents from the time with the word Video slapped on top in a nasty font.
