66 Minutes has been around since 2006, and has nothing to do with PSB requirements. It is one on M6’s set of newsmagazines; unlike Zone interdite (more focused on society issues), Enquête exclusive (dedicated to world affairs with a general and human interest perspective) and Capital (focused on consumer and economic reporting), 66 Minutes has a broader focus, tackling hot button issues with a tabloid lean and human interest angle on stories, often highlighting true crime stories, political and celebrity scandals, and even reports on lifestyle, showbiz and popular culture.
The topic tackled in that episode is just an example of the show’s content, but the format varies per episode: most shows have a multi-topic format, often with a common theme, but other episodes tackle a single topic through different stories and films, or, sometimes, with a single topic and film (the Grand Format episodes). Production is handled by the same teams as M6’s other newsmagazines, all through subsidiary C. Productions, and often sharing reporting and production staff; however, it can sometimes use reporters from other outlets, as well as freelancers, as M6 doesn’t as much correspondent presence as its rivals.
