Absolutely better to stick to the rules. I remember there was a contestant kicked of Deal or No Deal years ago, because she hadn't declared she'd previously won on Goldenballs.

Henry Kelly, famous for roughly the same sort of thing, was on Celebrity Pointless.

Perhaps if you only know them as daytime quiz presenters. Henry Kelly was a host on one of the biggest shiny floor Saturday night shows in the 80s, Game For A Laugh, had a long stint on TV-am and was part of the furniture on Classic FM for a long time.

No disrespect to Rob Curling, but outside of Newsroom South East's original patch he isn't a household name in the way that Henry Kelly is - at least with those of us of a certain age.
