Something from Ukraine. Three unused or upcoming intros for Suspilne Novyny (regional, Channel One News, and local). Rebranding was done by the London-based design agency Studio Hansa.

Honestly, I like these intros better than Polsat-style (just changing the logo and colours from Suspilne's ID).

I don’t think these intros are being used given the current circumstances, but I don’t think they are formally considered unused. They look really good and maybe Suspilne executives are waiting for the invasion to be over in order to use them, given Yedyni Noviny is on air on Pershyi.

DR2’s Deadline has a new intro for the first time since 2013. Additionally, they have been unified with the rest of DR Nyheder’s shows using the same graphics.

www.youtube.com

The 2013 intro was introduced as part of a major repositioning of DR2 attempted at the time. Daytimes became all-news focused, as DR Update was closed to make way for DR Ultra, its newsroom being merged with the channel; evenings remained with highbrow cultural and social programming alongside Deadline.

The clean graphics package from DR Design was also accompanied by music from German experimental musician Alva Noto, which was remixed by DR Nyheder house composer Steffen Breum many times over the next following years. Due to budget cuts, the news programming was replaced by continuous coverage from DR Nyheder, which was originally intended for DR’s digital platforms.

Turkmenistan’s state newscast Watan Habarlary has finally decided to get a more “modern” intro. Still, a patriotical tone, images of horses and the Turkmen president are present, but the pacing is way more contemporary.

For context, a history of old intros, including the well-known 20-year-old intro which changed with many developments, both technical and political:

TV 2 Lorry, the regional TV 2 news station for the Copenhagen metropolitan district, has been renamed TV 2 Kosmopol. Although TV 2 says Lorry “closed”, it is actually a full-scale relaunch of the station, moving to a new location in the Copenhagen media city and also refocusing to become a regional news channel.

Big changes at Televisa's news department. As announced two months ago, their news department N+ (said N Más) made some alterations to the anchor line-up of some of its newscasts. Denise Maerker, who anchored their newscast En Punto since a large-scale relaunch in 2016, was moved to a role of executive producer for its special projects. She anchored her final show on Monday.

www.youtube.com

Maerker's successor, former CBS News correspondent Enrique Acevedo, took over the following Tuesday. Acevedo comes back to Televisa after a stint in the 2000s, where he acted as substitute anchor and reporter.

The other change came in the morning. Paola Rojas, who anchored the lighter-weighted magazine-style show Al Aire, signed off last Friday, citing her need to focus on her family. She will stay with Televisa and plans to host a weekly interview show for its streaming network N+ Media, set to be titled as such.

www.youtube.com

As a result, Al Aire was replaced by a new magazine-style show, Por las Mañanas. The show has new presenters, Genaro Lozano and Sofía Escobosa, a new set, and a new format which is an imitation of CNN This Morning.
