Seems interesting to skew 0-7 year olds, but I guess it does make sense as viewing habits have become more younger, and the older kids are now watching stuff on YouTube and Netflix.

And seeing Sky sell off their 40% stake in Nickelodeon UK is a little surprising, but not so much when you realise Sky haven't really had a hand in Nick for a while (except for times where they've helped with transmission of the channel during its early days and also sponsored events like the Kids Choice Awards when that arrived in the UK)

I mean, they did acquire Flextech and then integrated the entire company into their own operations. Sky Witness and Sky Crime moved far away from their previous incarnation as female-skewing channels and Pick was repurposed to add in aspects of the old Virgin 1 schedule (the sci-fi afternoons are a long time holdout from that channel).

It's just that Sky realised a very long time ago that a single entertainment channel was not enough and it's become more true as other channel operators either opt out of pay TV by going FTA or moving on demand. Their entertainment lineup has become the strongest it's been by catering to just about every genre available whilst also accounting for the on-demand strategy.

Is QVC really HD on sky as unlike Ideal World it does not have the little HD icon underneath the preview box on Sky Q?

Local TV (confusingly named, it's just one channel) will be removed from Sky on the 1st of December.

To be accurate 1 channel called Local TV which features output from all the former Made branded channels is being axed from Sky. That said I think they were the only local broadcaster on Sky other than London Live. Notts TV were also on the platform for a short time.

Pretty sure the Sky "channel" for local TV was only a mash-up of the various regional outputs anyway, so its probably no great loss. Wouldn't be surprised if they've now decided they can't afford the EPG fees to Sky, the uplink costs and what not...

I think it started off as Made in Leeds, then it was changed to the current set-up of showing local news from across the Local TV Network in the evening.

QVC have only been broadcasting in HD on Sky since April this year, so such small details being incorrect might not be too surprising.

Though they were on Freeview in HD until the closure of COM7, it is funny to think they've only just launched in HD on Sky when they've been broadcasting in UHD in Germany since 2017.

I find it rather amusing that a shopping channel would want to broadcast in UHD.   Tongue
