Not for people watching on analogue in 14:9 (which was still a large number in 2003), or on a digital box set to letterbox, you'd be able to see to the top of the frame there.

I’d completely forgotten about that halfway house of history. That is true.

I wonder if they will update the pre-recorded announcements for the current episodes airing on ITV 3 in the afternoons? We're not exactly in 'early day' territory any more now are we?

We never really were in the "early days" considering they started Corrie 25 years in and Emmerdale 17 years.

Hmm, why did ITV3 start from 1986 when Granada Plus had started from 1976? The earlier point makes more sense, as there's no wiped episodes in between.

There's no wiped episodes anyway, even if they'd started at 1960.
That's just the point they chose to start, however much I'd have liked them to start earlier. I definitely wish they'd have started Emmerdale Farm from 1972, they'd have got through it quite quickly anyway considering the combination of only being twice weekly and not being year round from 1975 to 1985 (and some years not having many episodes at all).

It’s probably down to continuity and how long some characters have been in the show for. You’re more likely to be familiar with the cast of 1986 in 2017, than you were the case of 1960 in 2017. I’d say it was probably the same when Granada Plus launched. Where Plus did excel over ITV3 is that they had themed marathons and showed many different episodes. We’ve only had that on ITV3 once and that was for Corrie’s 60th. Difference now is that we also have BritBox/ITVX.
I’ve gone back and watched a few 1960s episodes on BritBox before now and whilst they’re very good, it takes a while to figure out which character is which that you’re not familiar with.

That same patch of land by the canal next to the studios appearing again tonight, always appears when a character has to go to some piece of wasteland.

Today's first ITV3 episode left in the original "continues in half an hour" caption, rather than putting on the end credits from the second part as they usually do on the first part of the two parter episodes.

No classic Corrie today, strangely, there's 4 episodes of Emmerdale instead, not sure why.
