I suppose that's down to the fact that this FAST channel launched earlier than anticipated, and that ITVX Kids will properly launch on the 22nd July.

Seems to be of habit of ITV to launch something sooner than advertised.

interesting this appears under the live section of the main profile and not the live section of the kids profile.

That makes sense in a way as to co-ordinate an app version launch cross multiple platforms when they require different requirements of testing, you can't guarantee all will be ready in time. Best to launch before and begin marketing activities from that date.

All exclusivity in this regard probably means it is exclusive, but for a limited period (much like in the 90s when home video released stuff that wasn't shown on TV - most of that was eventually shown years later).
That's already happening with Disney+ - it's been announced that the ABC network (also Disney owned) in the US will be airing Ms. Marvel. Only a matter of time before that happens here too. Especially if the SAG/AFTRA strike lasts a while.

One issue with putting made for streaming content on TV is that many streaming show episodes aren't of fixed length, so won't fit neatly into 30 or 60 minute slots. So you're either going to have a constantly varying schedule in terms of timings, or going to have some episodes running short, and some needing a fair amount of content trimming.

And when it comes to the US at least, many streaming shows are infamously full of excessive profanity and other content you wouldn't get away with on US network TV which would also cause issues.

Even the timings listed on the streaming services sometimes don't bear any reality to the content.
Disney+ is good at this, but the total running time they list usually includes two/three minutes of credits for the foreign audio dubs at the end of the main feature, depending on how many languages they dubbed it in.

But yes, streaming content lengths do vary wildly, but if they do show up on network TV they'll almost certainly be edited anyway to fit a 90 minute slot with adverts. Films typically run anywhere from 90mins to 2hrs with occasional variations either side of that so they're relatively easy to accommodate. An episode of Stranger Things can run anywhere from 42mins to 139min according to Wiki.

But like most of these things once you have a hit on your hands its like a drug, the network wants more and more, so the episodes get longer... Networks usually compensate by just ordering more episodes, whereas Netflix just say make them longer.

The Full Monty on Disney+ is one example,e of this. Episode are running from approximately 38 to 46 minutes long.

Stranger Things is a good example of why broadcasters traditionally keep programmes to time. I didn't bother with the series of basically feature length films.

Full Monty being at 38-46 suggests it's designed for broadcast - that sort of variation isn't completely unusual within broadcast slots. A UK commercial hour is usually 46 minutes but shows can be anything from 40-50 minutes really.

Yeah, I think they'd need to split each episode from that last season into two or even three shorter ones if Stranger Things was aired on linear TV.

Just seen this, shame it seems to only be ITVX Premium/Britbox rather than the regular ITVX:
