BBC News Pres: Apr 2023 - Present (News Channel/BBC One)

That bright red is really bad they are taking the Mickey.

Nicky Campbell's turquoise(?) / teal(?) slug paired with the new dark red is a bit of an assault on the eyes.

BBC News UK Opt decide to head back to coverage of the covid-19 inquiry. Instead of switching to the Matt Hancock interrogation, they cut to the UK World Feed about Putin for a few minutes. Meaning they were showing UK Feed opt straps on top of World Feed straps showing two BBC News logos one above the other. Then a few mins later, the newsreader said they were keeping us up to date with other news, before switching back to the inquiry. Attempting to patch over glaring mistakes.

When I looked a few minutes ago the ticker did have 5 items on it, instead the usual 3. Admittedly they were all about what Matt Hancock had been saying, and nothing about other World/UK news.

The UK Feed strap was superimposed on the World Feed strap, partly covering the World feed graphics wording & two BBC News logos. We heard sound from the interogater from the COVID inquiry yet saw vision from a news presenter talking in the "hostage situation" position. It only happened for about a minute at around 11.35am. It wasn't very professional and not acknowledging the mistake afterwards.

For reference, this is how it appeared to viewers...

Maybe they were just trying to prove that the two shades of red are distinguishable...?

Well the bottom bbc news logo is misaligned a few pixels to the right, this reminds me of bbc news 24 back in 2001 when they experimented with a bright red strap only now of course it affects world and Uk viewers.

Maryam Moshiri is doing the 1 today. Presumably a last minute thing...

Most likely so - the network bulletin team has recently been replenished by three seasoned presenters - Jane Hill, Ben Brown (unofficially?) and Reeta Chakrabarti, so there should be no shortage of presenters.

It must be the first time Maryam is in B, has she ever done weekday network bulletins before?

I distinctly remember her doing some daytime summaries on weekday BBC One year's ago before they were axed but don't think she's ever done a full bulletin. Not sure if it's her first time in B.

Might be because Huw was on last minute at the weekend so is taking time off to compensate. I noticed Reeta did both the 1 & 10 yesterday. Maybe Reeta/Jane will be doing the 10 tonight.
