BBC News Pres: Apr 2023 - Present (News Channel/BBC One)

It's so amateurish how they crash in and out of programmes. Surely it can't be that hard to get right.

Yes, catching it at 10am this morning with "Spain wins Women's World Cup" felt like they were still running that as breaking news 21 hours later.    And with a push back directing people online to the Lucy Letby sentencing means the output is going out in quarter screen at the moment.

I've no issue with the push backs when they add something but a pointer to the website could be on the flipper.

^^^^ The fact that piece of non news is still one of their top stories says it all.

Is there anyone working there and actually thinking???

As well as taking up so much 'screen real estate' with those massive blocky lower thirds, we now have to put up with that QR code taking up so much other space.

Are they actually trying to make things look worse each day?

If this is his idea of "bold innovation", then god knows what he's going to cook up when the time comes for a full rebrand

And the weird thing is that the QR code pushback is UK only... The URL still works if you're outside the UK.

Has the pushback been the same text throughout, so not particularly useful or informative? Would be more useful if it had quotes from the victim statements.

Ridiculous now during the actual sentencing, which is actually being filmed and broadcast live, that you have a massive QR code almost the size of the video feed of the judge.

It's worth noting that on the BBC's live page regarding the feed there's been disclaimers of "The cameras may sometimes cut out for legal reasons" and also "Sometimes the feed will be suspended for a few moments for legal reasons, to protect the identity of the victims and their families".

This might possibly be the reason why they're opting not to show the video feed live. I believe there's legal reasons why the victims & families cannot be named, so maybe the BBC doesn't want to risk this slipping out via the courtroom feed.

I'm guessing there's a delay on the video feed so they can keep cutting it out when the judge says something personally identifiable. We're barely hearing any of it as a result.

We know how CC operates - gimmicks like the studio B droid cameras and VR newsroom hoops over thoughtful, considered design.
