Really solid coverage on Sky News so far -- they'd been dipping in and out of the story during the 0830 half-hour, but at 0900, they went into rolling coverage.
Good summaries of what (little) we know so far, along with footage from a local news provider, and reporting from a local radio journalist.
Sky has also done well explaining things like what NILOs are (National Inter-agency Liaison Officers), after several social media images surfaced showing large groups of these officers near the police cordon. (A detailed explanation of NILOs can be found here: files.manchesterarenainquiry.org.uk for those interested.)
Meanwhile, over on BBC News -- give me strength -- Nicky Campbell wants to know what you think about the Covid Inquiry:
No breaking news lower-thirds, and of course, the ticker/flipper showed absolutely nothing except the contact details for the radio phone-in.
There was a ten-second mention of the Nottingham incident in the news summary at 0901...
...but if you missed that, and you tuned into BBC News after 0902, you'd have no absolutely no idea there was any kind of serious situation ongoing in Nottingham. For ten minutes, there was nothing else happening in the entire world, as far as BBC News was concerned, except the sharing of vacuous, ill-informed public opinions of the Covid Inquiry.
Thankfully, someone finally saw sense at 0912, enabling the BREAKING ticker with the headline "Police say a serious incident has happened in Nottingham"...
...which sounds like it was written by a moron.
